So, I think this software is great. User friendly, if you know what you are doing. If not, its easy to figure it out by pushing buttons. I have been having issues with it crackling and popping when I record or even play music, and it will freeze after a while of this happening.
I bought a computer just for this program, with an i7 processor, powerful enough to handle this I would think, but it pops and freezes still. Nobody can figure out why or how to fix it. So, I really really recommend this software, but check your system requirements before purchasing it.
If it were not for that small issue, I would rate it a full five stars. I was dissuaded from buying Sony's ACID Music Studio 10 after reading some negative reviews here on amazon and finding a lot of information online about compatibility issues that this program supposedly has with 64 bit Windows 7. I finally decided to take the risk anyway, and I am so glad I did!
Sony offers users an incredible value with the price of this program and the download through Amazon was reliable and faster than estimated. I keep waiting for my joyous trip to be blackened somehow by any number of issues that I've heard about; but so far it's just been smooth sailing. I've yet to experience any strange anomalies or quirks that suggest that this program and Windows 7 64 bit don't play well together. I couldn't be happier with this purchase. This is one of the best softwares available for music. It does have some complicated parts when it comes to which version to choose, however.
In 'fruity' edition, you can't import wav files or samples for granulizer channel manipulation. This isn't a particularly big deal. Also, you can't import files period for the most part. This IS a big deal. So I upgraded to 'Producer' edition.
Upgrading isn't easy, as you have to purchase a new physical fl extension box to do it. When you get the box though, you don't have to download the software again, it somehow just magically changes instantly once you enter the appropriate information. Overall, what you're getting with Fl Studio is a very good software that can do way more than most applications.

I do find programming drum patterns in Fl or looping a pattern to be very difficult.
